[SAINT-QUENTIN, NB] — Ottawa is providing a funding boost for the Festival Western de Saint-Quentin to enhance its services and improve its infrastructure.
It is investing $174,000 in the project under the Innovative Communities Fund (ICF) through ACOA. Festival Western de Saint-Quentin is also contributing $94,900 to the project.
"We are proud to support the Festival Western de Saint-Quentin, which has established itself as an international event and has become a major tourist attraction. Our investment will help grow this event and the contribution it makes to the local economy as a popular tourism destination," said Bernard Valcourt, associate minister of National Defence and Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) (La Francophonie).
The organizers expect to welcome over 80,000 visitors to the 2012 edition of the festival. This particular project involves building a service warehouse, enhancing the seating quality of the stands, installing electricity, water and sewer services, purchasing security gates for crowd safety purposes, improving access roads and pedestrian traffic areas and implementing a promotional plan for the festival.
