[GRAND FALLS, NB] — A New Brunswick company has been awarded a contract to twin the Trans-Canada highway between Edmundston and the Quebec border.

Restigouche Construction from Grand Falls beat out four other companies to win a $6.8-million contract to twin 2.7 kilometres of Route 2.

The company will also be paving the four-lane highway, which is used by about 6,000 vehicles per day — 30 per cent of which are trucks.

The provincial government plans for the work to be completed by the fall of 2014.
